South Northants Homes 

Our original contract for South Northants Homes was a four year contract commencing October 2008. Due to the success of the scheme, we were pleased to be awarded a two year extension to the programme, taking works through to 2014. 

 

In line with their commitment to the Decent Homes Standards, South Northants Homes are carrying out replacement or repair of roof finishes and coverings where the existing roof is old and/or in poor condition. 

 

Works covered the replacement and repair of roofs and chimneys, loft insulation to comply with building regulations, re-bedding and fixing loose tiles, re-pointing or re-building chimneys and the clearance of moss from roofs and gutters. 

Working with properties that contained 

asbestos materials. 

 

These were removed under controlled conditions utilising specialist asbestos removal techniques. 

Some properties had residents with mobility issues, some had access difficulties and some housed night workers. All issues encountered had immediate solutions which ensures that the works were 

not delayed. 

 

Scaffolding was erected at most properties, 

working in partnership with sister company 

Lysander Scaffolding, with every effort made to ensure disturbance, dust and debris was kept 

to a minimum. 

 

In order to eliminate cyclical maintenance, all existing timber fascias, soffits, bargeboards and cladding were removed and new PVCu materials installed. All defective timbers were replaced where necessary. 

 

Brickwork repairs were carried out in conjunction with the roofing works which included re-pointing to gable ends, re-building parapet walls, chimney work and repairs to outbuildings.
